Privacy 101
If you would like to implement privacy training for your staff that is relevant to your operation, impactful, but yet simple, consider Privacy 101 offered by Service Access & Management, Inc. (SAM).
Privacy 101 is designed to engage your staff in a way that many traditional online or in-person privacy training programs don’t. Our trainer will schedule a meeting to learn about your organization so we can develop a custom training program relevant to your operations and areas of need.
Most Privacy 101 programs offered by SAM include a primary focus on HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). They also focus on important aspects of various other privacy laws which protect the confidentiality of a patient’s or client’s Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol and HIV/Aids information. Our curriculum for providers in Pennsylvania can also focus on the Pennsylvania Mental Health Procedures Act if this is relevant to your operations.
At the conclusion of the training, your staff will:
• Understand basic privacy concepts which are key to protecting health information while promoting the flow of information and allowing for quality services.
• Better understand their obligations to protect the privacy of the individuals you serve.
• Have a fundamental understanding of HIPAA and additional privacy requirements imposed by mental health, drug/alcohol, and HIV/Aids privacy laws.
• And know the difference between required and permitted disclosures of protected health information.
